Atul Kulkarni is doning all this for the Marathi film, Natrang Zee Talkies first production.'Natarang' is based on a novel by Anand Yadav, Marathi literatteur and President of this year's Marathi Sahitya Sammelan. 'Natarang' is the story of GUNA, a farm worker from the backword community, who is an amature wrestler with ultimate dreams of playing the King in the traditional Marathi folk art Tamasha.

Having participated in the State level drama competition hosted by Govt of Maharashtra competition from 1989 to 1992 , Atul has won 5 Best Actor Awards and 1 Best Director Award so far.

he play 'Gandhi Viruddha Gandhi' gave Atul 8 Best Actor Awards during the year 1996. It is a record in Marathi Professional Theatre.


Atul received his first National Award For Best Actor in a Supporting Role during the year 1999 for the film ‘Hey Ram’.

In the year 2002, Atul received his second National Award For ‘Best Actor in a Supporting Role’ for the film ‘Chandni Bar’.

actor Atul Kulkarni has a completely different look in his new Marathi film, Natrang. The actor, who is normally lean and simple, has put on weight for his role in the film.

Confirms Atul, "I had put on 15 kg for the first half, and then shed off 16 kg in 38 days for the second half of the film!"

The Rang De Basanti actor took 45 days to gain weight and another 40 days for losing all that extra stuff.

Natrang tells the story of a farm worker who is also an amature wrestler. He dreams of playing the king in traditional Marathi theatre.
